![]() "Order is never observed. It is disorder that attracts attention because it is awkward and intrusive."~Eliphas Levi Spring is almost here and so are the chores related to the infamous Spring Clean. At times we all feel overwhelmed with the amount of work the house, paperwork and the yard takes. "What to do?" and "Where to start" are questions I hear from my clients on a regular basis. If you choose to tackle your paperwork as your spring cleaning project then you need to choose a day and a time. Write it on your calendar to reinforce your commitment. Buy yourself a timer and decide how much time you will commit to your paperwork. Break this big project into bite size small projects. The easiest way, and most rewarding, is to clear your desktop of all the papers, coffee cups, books and other items that don’t belong in your office. Store them in a box or bin, label office papers and then spend 30 min. each day sorting and filing your papers. The next project could be your junk drawers. Again, sort everything and only keep the things you use and like. For great organizing ideas check out: My book "Kick the Clutter, Get Organized" available in e-format. And this book available at Chapters "Overcoming Compulsive Hoarding" Put only the items that you use daily on your desk. Everything else is stored or filed somewhere else. Remember, think horizontal: filing cabinets, shelves etc for filing and storage needs. When your desktop is clear of the unwanted clutter it gives you pleasure and extra energy to continue. This same method will work with your clothes, dishes, books, makeup and toys. If you have a family it's time to get together for a short family meeting. Each member starting at age two will have a chore to do. When all chores are done, order a pizza and a movie as a reward. Please call me regarding our spring special. I wish you the best of luck keeping your home organized and clean. Best Regards Ranka
