Better Business Bureau Torch Awards

The Torch Awards are given to those who show their commitment to consumers and conduct their business practices in an ethical fashion.

It has been a while since I learned so much in one day by being with people who excel in their choice of business, offer exceptional services and are awarded by the Better Business Bureau and their peers.

It was a pleasure to be in the company of personable and funny Lynda Pasacreta, the president of Better Business Bureau. This lady knows how to pick her team. They are all young, talented and ready to go that extra mile to help other businesses to succeed.

The Torch Awards event was spiced up by the beautiful and talented Lynda Steele Emcee, a CTV News British Columbia consumer reporter and host of Steele On Your Side.

The room was filled with such giants as David Suzuki's lovely wife Tara, who tirelessly work to protect the environment we live in through the David Suzuki Foundation.

I also would like to congratulate the Torch Awards winners:

  • David Suzuki Foundation
  • Blue Crest Electric
  • Papa Plumbing, Heating & Draining
  • Webnames.ca
My sincere gratitude goes to Lynda Pasacreta, the president of BBB and her amazing team for helping me and my family business to succeed.

We are proud members of Better Business Bureau because they take a personal interest in our business as well as our family.

Thank you BBB team!

Simplify Your Travel

The holidays are around the corner. Many of us will be traveling for business, and the lucky ones for pleasure. If you travel often you know by now that taking too many clothes, shoes, accessories or make up is nothing but a big headache. This especially applies to us women because we believe that we have to have different clothes for every day or shoes to match every outfit.

Unless you are a model and walking a Paris runway, pack lightly and plan wisely. Before you leave your home, check the weather at your destination. Tailor your wardrobe to the kinds of activities you enjoy, lazing on the beach, going hiking or going to fancy restaurants and clubs. Two outfits for each activity are plenty. Also mix and match the colours in your wardrobe. White or black pants/shorts will go with any other colour of T-shirt or blouse; nobody will notice that you only have two pairs of pants.

Instead of taking big bottles of your favourite lotions, use travel size bottles and containers available at any drug store and refill them. It will take less space in your suitcase. Also use zip-lock bags to pack all your toiletries, chargers, cords, razor blades, documents etc. Get your documents ready well in advance; it can easily take a couple of months or so to obtain a passport. Don’t forget to buy extended health insurance, better to be safe than sorry.

Have a happy and safe trip.

Sales Success Spurs Launch of Phase Two at Tsawwassen Springs!

This month, Ron Toigo of Shato Holdings Ltd., along with Talisman Homes Ltd., is launching Phase Two of Tsawwassen Springs, a

The second phase of Tsawwassen Springs is comprised of a six-storey concrete building. Named 5055 Springs Boulevard, the building will feature 93 units with prices starting at $369,900. Sizes range from 754 square feet to more than 2,300 square feet for the penthouse suites. Floor plans come in many variations to ensure buyers’ needs, wants and budgets are met. TV's "Consumed" Looking for Families.

Last month I received a phone call from Fleur Matthewson a Researcher for TV’s “Consumed”. They are looking for families that are willing to participate in their show, get their whole house de-cluttered, organized, cleaned and staged.

If you are overwhelmed with clutter and chaos in your home, please consider giving them a chance to change your and your family life.

Since my organizing approach is very similar to the Consumed I wholeheartedly recommend this TV show to anybody who needs help in organizing and moving forward in life. The reward of your work and commitment is priceless and lasting. For more information about this great show, please contact Rachel Knudsen at 604 873-9777 Ext. 251 or e-mail her at papernycasting@gmail.com.

More Seniors
"Aging in Place"

More seniors are choosing to adapt their current homes to their new circumstances rather than move into traditional "retirement homes" or "assisted living homes".  Each person and family needs to assess their situation, resources and abilities and decide which method is best for them.  Regardless of which you choose to do, S.O.S. has the resources to help make the transition easier.  From helping to downsize, pack and move to evaluation your current living space so you are happy in the home that has so many memories, S.O.S. has the solutions you need.
