S.M.A.R.T. Goals to Organize Your Space

Before you use the S.M.A.R.T. formula to create your organizing goals it helps if you ask yourself the following 5 “W” questions:

Why do I want to get organized?  List the purpose and benefits to you.

When will I commit to my project?  Be specific with date and time.

Where do I start?  Choose the room that bothers you the most and one that’s used on a daily basis.

What tools and skills do I need to organize my home?

Who do I call to help me with my project?

Specific: A specific goal has a greater chance of being achieved than a general goal. “I would like to get organized some day” is a general goal and a statement without any commitment or plan to do something. Specific goals are: I will start with two kitchen drawers on Saturday, October 16 at 10:00 am. Write it down on your calendar or in your planner, you do have one. Being specific applies to all aspects of your life, finding a better job, spending time with your family or writing a book.

Measure: Measure your progress toward the achievement of each goal. This way you will stay on track and experience the joy of achieving something that you thought wasn’t possible to achieve. Accomplishing something big gives you motivation to continue working toward even bigger projects. When I published my first article seven years ago I didn’t know that I could jump that high and scream that loud. That was my motivation to write a few more articles and finally my book. The confidence doesn’t come from watching others, it comes from doing the things you need to do; no excuses.

Attainable: When you indentify goals that are most important to you, you begin to figure out the ways to achieve them.  What skills do I need is the first question, who could help me and what’s the cost? Eliminate from your vocabulary “I can’t” instead say to yourself “how can I achieve my goal.”  When you are ready to make positive changes in your life, don’t be afraid to ask for help from family, friends and professionals. Nobody does life changing events alone, at times we all need help.

Realistic: You also have to be realistic and not set your goals too high. How determined you are to change your circumstances, believing in yourself and taking baby steps will shape the outcome. Surround yourself with positive and productive people; those that are making differences in other people’s lives.

Timely: Your goal must have a time frame for completion. No time frame, no sense of urgency and you are open to all kind of excuses and procrastination. Share your goals with a friend or a family member, ask them to make you accountable and support you on your journey to a better life.

Testimonials!

I've known Ranka for many years now.  However since I'm a pretty organized person, I never really considered getting Ranka to help me with her specialty.  But this summer was really overwhelming and I realized I needed someone to just help me get through several organization projects so I was delighted when Ranka offered her assistance.  WOW!  She is really amazing....  She set to with vim and vigor, kept me on track, offered great suggestions, packed things away, threw things out and asked all the hard questions: "Will you sign a contract that you will deal with these projects?  No?  Okay, let's get rid of it now."  We got SO much done!

Thanks! Ranka! Debbi L., Owner of a Wellness Centre

It was a real pleasure to get to know Ranka and Miki. It's great to see women in business who are committed to their clients and the environment. The products that Solutions OrganizingSimple are using are of the highest quality and I was actually surprised to see that it works well, even though it is all natural and not harmful to the environment. ~Helen Stepchuk, Owner, Cucumber Marketing Inc. www.cucumbermarketing.com

S.O.S. is hiring!

We're looking to hire Independent Contractors as
Residential Cleaners.

Are you organized?  Do you like helping people? We are looking for residential cleaners.  As an Independent Contractor you will enjoy flexible hours while embarking on an exciting career.  You will be working in a team environment with lots of support.  The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail and be willing to go that "extra mile" for clients as well as be able to greet every situation, no matter how challenging, with compassion and energy.

While past experience is an asset, it is not a requirement as we will provide training.  Independent Contractors are responsible for submitting invoices and are not on payroll, and get to set their own hours within certain parameters.

If this sounds like the ideal career for you, please contact Ranka Burzan at 604.538.3240 for more information or email us your resume.
