S.O.S Tip of the Week
How to Safely Store Your Seasonal Clothes
Once again it's time
to put away our summer clothes and get out our fall and winter clothes. Here
are a few tips to safely store your clothes.
- Wash or dry clean your clothes; even
if they look clean after wearing, body oils can cause stains that can attract
moths.
- Avoid storing clothes in plastic bags for
a long period of time as the bags trap moisture and can cause mildew. Also,
plastic bags will deteriorate over time and can damage your clothes. Use cotton garment bags available in
major stores.
- Also avoid storing clothes in
cardboard boxes that contain acids which can cause your clothes to yellow
and attract insects. Use lidded plastic containers that can fit in your
closet or under your bed. Use cedar blocks to keep away pests and that "stale" smell. Store your clothes in a cool, dry and well
ventilated area.
Have a wonderful week!
