What to Get Rid of?

The number one challenge for people who struggle with disorganization is: where to start followed closely by: what to safely throw out

Always start with the most used space, your kitchen or your bathroom. Today we will focus on the subject of what to get rid of. Here is a list of items you could safely discard. Remember a lot of these items are recyclable.

• Outdated and unused office equipment and supplies

• Stacks of magazines and newspapers

• College books and essays if you graduated from medical school five years ago

• Exercise equipment you've "planned to use" for the last two years

• Empty boxes and bags in case you or somebody in the family moves

• Old and broken furniture you meant to fix but haven't got around to

• The collection or crafts material that no longer interests you

• Broken and rusty tools and equipment; rent equipment and tools instead

• Dried up and unusable paint

• Broken TV's VCR's and computers - recycle - it is now illegal to throw these items in the garbage

• Old bikes, skis and sleighs

• Old toys and baby clothes, your grown kids' stuff

• Receipts and pay stubs going back to the Trudeau era - only keep receipts for big ticket items for insurance reasons

• Old clothes - (disco isn't coming back)

• Old and broken appliances

• Chipped dishes or unused china

• Damaged jewellery

• Boxes of holiday decorations - donate to new families

Benefits of Spring Cleaning

Many of us say we'll Spring Clean, we plan to Spring Clean, but it's such a daunting task that it gets shoved to the back burner and voila! it's Autumn and we're still planning on Spring Cleaning. This year don't just plan, do it! Open your doors to the fresh air of spring and declutter all those corners; you'll feel better, breath better and be less stressed because you will be able to find your keys/wallet/purse/shoes etc with ease.

Like a breath of fresh air, spring cleaning not only cleans your house, it cleans your spirit. Make this the Spring that puts you on the track to a stressless summer.

Whether you do the cleaning yourself or hire someone to help you, it's time and money well-spent.
